About

Originally from Dublin, Ireland and currently based in the United States (Chicago, IL), I'm an independent game developer and photographer with experience in developer relations, product and project management, community management, web development and customer experience. I’m passionate about fostering communities for developers building cool things and helping make sure products (be they games, hardware platforms, or development SDKs) fit with what their users’ needs. I’m open to Developer Relations and Product Management roles.

I founded the indie game studio Kohococa Design Works in 2024, and have worked for companies like Magic Leap, Electronic Arts, nWay, and Harmonix Music Systems.

Games I've Worked On

HYPER GROOVE AX

HYPER GROOVE AX

Creative Director

A commercial remake of a 2014 rhythm game built as my major qualifying project at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Developed for Panic's Playdate and built in Lua using the Noble Engine. I built the game independently from art to engineering to audio. Pending release on Playdate Catalog.

POCKET MYSTERY EP DX

POCKET MYSTERY EP DX

Creative Director

A mystery-puzzle game built to run on the GameBoy Color and later ported to Steam using a Godot-based emulator (the port includes steam achievements, and unlockable content such as screen filters and backgrounds). 25,000 users have added it to their Steam Library, and it holds a "Mostly Positive" rating. A remake is being developed in Unity.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid

Community Manager

Originally released in early 2019 by nWay, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is a 3 vs. 3, Marvel vs Capcom-inspired fighting game based off the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers franchise. I joined nWay in 2020 as a community manager, re-building and re-launching Battle for the Grid’s content creator program, improving our social and community reporting, and directing marketing videos for the Street Fighter crossover DLC in collaboration with Capcom.

Power Rangers: Legacy Wars

Power Rangers: Legacy Wars

Community Manager

A free-to-play mobile fighting game, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars was released by nWay for Android and iOS in 2017. During my time as community manager I prepared blog content and trailers for monthly character releases and focused on improving nWays' relationship with the community by engaging more with users upset with the game's direction.

Sentiment slowly improved during my time working on the game, and when paired with improved community reporting the dev team was able to better balance community expectations with the reality of building a sustainable free-to-play game.

Rock Band 4: Rivals

Rock Band 4

Community Manager and Fullstack Web Developer

I joined Harmonix Music Systems a couple of months before the release of Rock Band 4, initially helping manage logistics for events such as PAX and then transitioning to managing engagement with our players on social media.

Towards the announcement of the game's Rivals Expansion, I built the Rock Band 4 setlist web app, decreasing wait times for players at events by letting them quickly and easily see songs what songs were available at the event before they got up on stage, at which stage I took over management of the websites for the game.

Amplitude

Amplitude

Community Manager

I took over Kickstarter support for Amplitude post-launch, after we internally realized players were not getting answers for questions relating to reward fulfillment. Additionally, I appeared on stream for the game, and took over engagement with the community on social media.

I may or may not have also been the first person to back the game on Kickstarter...

Other Work

2026

Android XR Intelligent Eyewear

As part of Magic Leap's partnership with Google, I've helped developers accelerate their development and adoption of Intelligent Eyewear by escalating SDK issues and feature requests and providing sample code for core systems like glasses input and orientation. I've also dogfooded the core SDKs, building internal sample apps like a version of Tetris that displays on the Glasses' UI and leverages both the phone and glasses as an input device.

2025

Samsung Galaxy XR

Magic Leap's partnership with Google meant I was testing and confirming Google Play submissions ran on device while also dogfooding the developer experience of building Unity and Jetpack apps for the first Android XR device, the Samsung Galaxy XR. I built example apps testing functionality such as image and object detection as well as hand tracking. I acted as the internal expert on porting Unity projects from Apple Vision Pro to Android XR, understanding key differences in how OpenXR worked with both platforms and general changes developers would need to make.

2022

Magic Leap 2

I dogfooded the Magic Leap 2 prior to launch, documenting how different systems worked and working cross-functionally to gather instructional graphics and videos while also providing feedback on the user experience based on data we had from customers during the lifecycle of Magic Leap 1. I used this knowledge to build our initial slate of support content for the product's launch.

I additionally built basic Unity apps to help streamline troubleshooting of issues our customers would report, seeing if I could reproduce them, and then flagging to our product teams.

I also maintained and updated our Customer Care Portal, integrating an SSO account system to allow customers to better track their open issues, while updating the site's design to match the branding of the Magic Leap 2.

2019

Magic Leap 1

Prior to Magic Leap's layoffs in April 2020, I managed the social content calendar for the Magic Leap 1's launch in December 2019, while managing our blog content, building our rules of engagement for Leapers (Magic Leap employees) on social media, launching our Developer Discord, rolling out a social media support program and corresponding training, and developing out a reporting infrastructure for customer issues on social media.

After I returned to the company in 2021 I cleaned up our Customer Care Portal, re-organizing updating all our content, managing the localization of content into Japanese and Arabic (work that would continue with Magic Leap 2), and building internal tools for Zendesk to see more information about a customer at a glance.

2018

Elm Street Technology Support Portal

I was the Product Owner for Elm Street Technology's Support Portal. This was the first time the real estate tech company had offered customers a way to get help on issues without calling or directly emailing someone. I oversaw the transition to Zendesk, setting up reporting and ticket routing, all while building out the initial slate of content for the portal, and working with other members of the company to build out an initial layout for the portal.

Upon my departure I set up a roadmap for the team to adhere to and transferred my knowledge to ensure a seamless transition in my absence.

Photography

In addition to my work in games and tech, I do photography. I have a particular interest in concert and portrait photography and have photographed multiple bands at a variety of locations ranging from house DIY shows to smaller venues in the Chicago area. I am available for hire for concert and band photography, engagement photos, and professional headshots. I enjoy shooting on both digital and film, as well as in both color and black and white. Feel free to contact me from one of the options at the bottom of the page to discuss what you're looking for as well as my rates.
